Building the Animal Sanctuary

The Veg Collective has access to a 7+ acre parcel in Forest Ranch, based in the foothills outside Chico, California. Once enough resources are available, we will use the property as a sanctuary for farmed animals, following the lead of our neighbors at Animal Place, located a few hours down the road.           http://animalplace.org/about/ 

In addition to farmed animals, the property will house a Rat Sanctuary. Rats are often portrayed as some of the most disparaged animals in our society, yet they possess many profound traits valued by humankind. This sanctuary will shed light on the shared experiences between humans and all of the animal kingdom, guided by the President of the Chico-based non-profit group R.A.T.S. (Rat Assistance and Teaching Society).
